Co-Ed Tee Ball
Rules
Special Rules This
is an instructional league. Please remember this!
-
T-Ball teams will consist of
10-12 players. All players shall have a place in the batting order
(all players will play offense and defense). The infield will remain
conventional. There will be a first baseman, second basemen, third
baseman, shortstop and a pitcher. There will be no catcher.
The remaining players will be positioned in the outfield area. They
must remain 15 feet behind the standard infield positions. The outfield
will be spread evenly around the field and no staggering of players will
be allowed. There will be no rover. Force plays will be made
at second base between the shortstop and second baseman. This will
teach fundamentals.
-
The bases are 50 feet.
Make sure that the square holes at 60 feet are plugged to prevent injuries.
A safety bag will be used at first base.
-
In T-ball there is no stealing,
no leading off base, no bunting, no charging players and no throwing bats.
Managers need to correct the habit of throwing bats.
-
We will be playing with 3 outs
per inning, if this should not occur the offensive team can bat the entire
line up one time. Use whatever situation occurs first.
-
The home team manager will be
responsible for lining the field (see diagram). A 10 foot arc in front
of home plate with the rear corner of the plate being the center.
The ball must travel 10’ to be in play. The pitcher’s line will be
a minimum of 36 feet to 46 feet from home plate.
-
No advancement of runners on
over throws. Try not to advance runners more than one base at a time
unless a hit of great distance occurs. This can be managed by the
base coaches. If 3 outs does not occur in an inning the last batter
may hit a home run.
-
The batting “T” will be set
on top of the original home plate.
-
The batter or team coach may
adjust the “T” as required by the player.
-
The batter may not swing until
the pitcher has made a throwing motion towards home plate.
-
There is no infield fly rule.
-
The defensive team manager and
two of his adult coaches will be permitted on the playing field to position
and instruct his/her players. The coaches must position themselves
as not to obstruct the fielder’s view of the field. The offensive
team manager will be allowed one coach at first and one at third.
These coaches will be allowed to instruct the batter when necessary.
-
Teams who do not fill more than
5 players may request another T-ball player to fill in. The fill
in player must play in the outfield and must bat last. No T-ball
player may be added to the lineup without approval by both team managers.
-
Umpires will be designated by
managers. They may be team coaches. They must be 13 years of
age or older. These umpires are considered volunteers. There
will be no compensation for T-ball umpires.
-
The most important thing that
an umpire has to do is to decide if the hit was good enough to be a double?
The ball has to be a good hit with no errors made on the play. A
few good examples would be a ball hit over the outfielders head or a hard
ground ball that goes to the fence. A double is the most a player
can get with the exception of the last batter home run rule.
-
Please advise base runners to
keep their helmets on until they reach the dugout.
-
Home team gets the first base
side of the field and dugout and the visitor gets the third base
side for 15 minutes prior to game time. No infield practice.
-
Games consist of an allotted
time of 1 ½ hours or 4 innings maximum.
-
Managers and players should
not keep score. We will not keep standings, this is an instructional
league only.
-
No smoking in the dugout or
fields inside the fence.
-
No swearing on the playing field
or dugouts by coaches, players or parents.
-
Only team players, managers
and (2) coaches per team in the dugout.
-
Clean garbage from the dugout
and field, put bases and “T” back in the equipment boxes after each game.
-
Managers are responsible for
their parents behavior.
-
All players must be rotated
to different positions to learn the game. Be careful on putting non-skilled
players at first or pitcher to prevent injuries. A batting helmet
and chest protector may be used by the pitcher.
-
All other “Official Little League”
rules will apply.
