Question 1: What is the
registration fee for?
All registration
fees are used to the children. The uniforms, equipment, insurance,
and playing fields are purchased and /or maintained through these fees.
Question 2: Who is the
P.B.A.A?
The Plum Boro Athletic
Association is a non-profit organization located in Plum Boro. The many
objectives of the P.B.A.A include athletic opportunities for children,
instruction of sportsmanship, honesty, and loyalty. Winning is secondary
to the attainment of athletic skills and preparation for community life
of these young people.
Question 3: What is T-Ball?
T-Ball is the youngest
division of play offered to the boys and girls. The name refers to
the use of a specially designed batting tool. Young players coming
into the league use the “tee” who have had no prior batting experience?
For younger players, it is used to instruct basic hitting skills and by
older players for drills and special hitting practice. The T-Ball
division is designed as an instructional league with 3 weeks for drills
and information. Competition is in the form of games played for the
5 additional weeks (no standings are kept) for a total of 8 weeks. Young
players learn skills including batting, fielding, running, safety, team
spirit and good sportsmanship.
Question 4: What are our
goals?
Our goals are to:
teach physical skills- fitness and health; to build self-esteem; to teach
social skills- values; communications, human relations; build relationships
among peers and between parents and children; to develop future managers;
coaches and volunteers; to create a fun experience for youth and parents;
and allow every kid to play in a fair environment.
Question 5: What equipment
is required?
Your child should
have a glove, warm-up jacket and maybe a ball that has a soft core. Footwear
should be some kind of athletic shoe, because your child will be running
a lot. Choose a lightweight show that is comfortable. (No steel spikes.)
Your child will receive a cap and a T-shirt to wear, which they will be
able to keep.
Question 6: How can I
get involved?
All parents or guardians
are encouraged to join the P.B.A.A. As a member you can become a
manager or coach. The P.B.A.A welcomes new members each month at
regular meetings, that are on the 4th Thursday of the month.
Question 7: How much time
is required for support?
A manger’s position
requires the most work. Practice is encouraged once a week.
Games are played once a week and will run approximately one hour.
Managers are encouraged to attend all monthly meetings, volunteer time
for field maintenance, support fundraisers and help with operation of the
concession stands. Additional work force is requested during tournament
events in July. The regular season runs from April to July.
The P.B.A.A also has a fall program that needs managers and coaches from
late August into October. Volunteer help is always welcome and greatly
appreciated.
